Cape Action for People and the Environment (C.A.P.E.) is a partnership of government and civil society, with support from international donors, to protect and restore the rich biodiversity of the Cape Floristic Region for the benefit of all its people.

The programme is co-ordinated through the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) and its fynbos biome programme. The C.A.P.E. Co-ordination Unit (CCU) is housed in SANBI at the Rufford Maurice Laing Centre for Biodiversity Conservation, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Cape Town.

The CCU supports the governance and co-ordination structures which provide strategic direction to the work of the 23 C.A.P.E. signatory partners and oversee the spending of donor funding.  Progress is tracked though a monitoring and evaluation system.

The CCU together with the SKEP Coordination Unit is also responsible for assisting partner organizations in developing strategies to access project funding
